On a hot summer day in 2004, Leah McSweeney sat on a Spring Street stoop in New York City.  That is where she first conceived of Married To The MOB,  a progressive and rebellious women’s streetwear  label.  M.O.B. stands for “Most Official Bitches,” a tribute to Leah’s NYC crew of girls that never failed to have her back.  The concept for MTTM?  “A streetwear label designed for women and by women.”  According to MTTM’s website bio:

Design inspiration for the label is literally up from the streets of New York and its clubs, secret hang-out spots and smoke-filled parties, making MOB equal parts chic, smart-mouthed, and definitely not-to-be-messed with.

Before MTTM, Leah worked in styling and assisting.  Now she is the founder and CEO of a globally-recognized, rapidly-growing company with high profile collaborations, including Nike Dunks, Reebok Freesytle, and MCM (European luxury brand) tote to name a few.  Read a full interview with Leah here, where she discusses her rowdy past, admiration for Hellz Bellz, and expectations of motherhood. Check out the Mobliving blog, where they deem The Beat Freaks “Most Official” here and here.

To purchase MTTM clothing and accessories go to Shop at MOB’s website or Karmaloop for the:

  • 1982 Tee in Violet worn by Lady Jules
  • 1982 Crew in Midnight Blue seen on BGirl Shorty
  • Shiny Hat in Gold seen in various Beat Freaks pics
  • for the Worldwide Women’s Hat seen on Lindsey and Teresa, go to BoundlessNY

MTTM seeks to style confident females who are tough and girly with some major street-smart attitude.  How would you describe The Beat Freaks style?
